The Constitutional Council has recommended senior Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha for the post of Chief Justice (CJ) in the Supreme Court.

The meeting of the Council held Tuesday in Singh Durbar made such recommendation.

Following the meeting, Minister for Law and Justice, Prem Bahadur Singh informed media that Justice Shrestha was recommended to the CJ post as per the hierarchy in the Supreme Court.

The recommendation was made citing the approaching date that present Chief Justice Anup Raj Sharma is being retired, on March 25.

An MA in political science and bachelor in law, and public administration, Justice Shrestha was appointed as a temporary Justice in the SC eight years ago. He was born in Palpa in 2003 BS.
