Constituent Assembly (CA) members have boycotted the programme organized for the former themselves citing the organizer has caused harm to their dignity by not arranging seats for them on dais.
Placing question as to why seats were not arranged for them as the programme was organized for them; they accused the non-government organizations (NGOs) of making lawmakers the subject of humiliation.
Disaster Preparedness Network, ECO Nepal, National Network of Disaster Victims organized a programme entitled “Disaster management Act and organizational Structure” for CA members with the financial assistance of OXFAM GB Nepal in Centre for Constitutional Dialogue (CCD) in New Baneswor Thursday.
The organizers had placed Minister of State for Physical Planning and Works Sanjaya Kumar Saha, DIPINET chairperson Dr. Min Bahadur Poudel and joint secretary at Home Ministry Shanker Prasad Koirala on dais.
CA members walked out of the programme citing “we have been defamed” while chairperson of organizer ECO Nepal Ram Chandra Neupane was urging to pass the Act on Disaster Management which is under consideration in the Legislature-Parliament.
The outraged CA members went outside the programme spot saying, “it is what NGO does”. They voiced concern for the harm caused to their self-esteem and dignity claiming it was the sheer ignorance to the CA members who were called as the focus of the programme.
The organizer continued programme saying there is at least the presence of two CA members, however others walked out of the spot.
