Tulsipur, (Dang), Chairperson of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the Maoists are committed towards peace and constitution.
Addressing a function to bid farewell to disqualified Maoist combatants in the fifth divisional headquarters of Maoists in Dahaban, Rolpa Monday, Chairperson Prachanda further said the discharge of disqualified combatants has proved their commitments.
Leader Dahal also accused three big political parties of not being serious towards peace building and constitution drafting process.
Being in or outside the cantonments does not mean to be the credential of qualifying, he noted, adding dedication towards nation and people is the testimony of qualification.
Some 283 Maoist combatants of fifth divisional headquarters, who were proved to be disqualified according to UNMIN standard, were bade farewell
Also present on the occasion were Maoists standing committee member Barsha Man Pun, People’s Liberation Army (PLA) commander Nanda Kishor Pun ‘Pasang’, Karin Landgren among others.
On the occasion, UNMIN provided outgoing PLA combatants with new identify card and Rs. 10,000 each while UCPN (Maoist) handed over Rs. 12,000 to the disqualified combatants who have been in the cantonments for the last three years.
After the discharge, there left 2,243 UNMIN-verified PLA combatants in the fifth divisional headquarters.
The programme to bid farewell to disqualified combatants that began from January 17 has been concluded in Dahaban of Rolpa.
The disqualified combatants who looked very sentimental and aggressive received red powder from commander Pasang and garland from Baldev.
However, many of the combatants after coming outside the programme spot had thrown the garlands they were offered. Some of them, though, shake hand with chairperson Prachanda and other leaders during farewell did not even see their faces once.
